For anti-party comments, TMC suspends Mukul Roy’s son Subhrangshu

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress suspended its MLA Subhrangshu Roy for six years for making anti-party comments. The decision was announced by the secretary general of TMC, Partha Chatterjee, at a press conference.

Earlier, Subhrangshu who is son of BJP leader Mukul Roy was with the TMC. Chatterjee said that had been waiting and keeping track of Subhrangshu’s activities.He said, “It’s over now."

Chatterjee said, “He has been constantly making such statements. Our party's disciplinary body after consultation with party supremo Mamata Banerjee has decided to expel him."

Subhrangshu has been elected MLA twice from Bijpur Assembly constituency which falls under the Barrackpore Lok Sabha constituency.

Subhrangshu today at a press conference lauded his father's organisational skills. Subhrangshu said, "Today I have no qualms in accepting that I have lost to my father. He is a real chanakya of Bengal politics. Our party has lost and people voted against us. We should accept it.”

Mukul Roy was once Mamata’s close aide but later had a fallout with her and joined the BJP in November 2017. Praises are being showered on him for the BJP’s stupendous performance in West Bengal in the just-concluded Lok Sabha elections.

Meanwhile, Partha Chatterjee commented on the poll loss and said losing elections doesn't mean defeat.
