Srinagar: For the first time in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the number of local terrorists has reached below 100. This is the first time in history when the number of local terrorists in the valley has come down to less than 100 and foreign terrorists have also decreased. Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar has given this information. On Thursday, he said that the security forces have been successful in breaking the 200 mark for the first time.

Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar said that we have been able to break the mark of 200 terrorists in Kashmir, as this figure has come down to 180. For the first time in history, local terrorists have reduced to less than 100. The count is 85-86 after yesterday's encounter. So we can say that terrorism is on the decline. Vijay Kumar has informed that 24 terrorists have been killed in December, out of which 5 are Pakistani.

He said, 'We have seized 2 US-made M4 Carbine rifles, 15 AK47s, more than 24 pistols, grenades, IEDs. This shows the terrorist involvement of Pakistan Jaish-e-Mohammed. The security forces and the intelligence system are on full alert. He said that 128 local terrorists were recruited this year, out of which 73 were killed in encounters and 16 were arrested. Only 39 are active now. The numbers have come down significantly as compared to the last two years.'
