Court frames charges against AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal for 'forcing suicide'

New Delhi: A special MP/MLA court in the national capital Delhi has framed charges of extortion against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Prakash Jarwal, his aide Kapil Nagar and another accused of inciting, threatening and plotting to commit suicide. Special Judge Gitanjali Goel ordered a date of November 24 and 25 to record the statements of prosecution witnesses in the case.

In fact, on October 22, the court reserved its verdict on the framing of charges, before arguments were made in its defence on behalf of two accused in the case Kapil Nagar and Harish Kumar Jarwal on September 7. On April 18, 2020, Dr. Rajendra Singh committed suicide by hanging himself in his house in Durga Vihar, South Delhi. The Delhi Police, who reached the spot, had recovered a two-page suicide note from the doctor's house. The doctor in the suicide note held AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal and Kapil Nagar responsible.

The investigation also found a diary containing the doctor's water tankers and the account of asking for money on Prakash Jarwal, Delhi police made, AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal the main accused, Kapil Nagar and Harish Jarwal as co-accused in the case on the complaint of the doctor's family, section 306 of the IPC against the trio, Although the three accused were granted bail by the Delhi High Court in June 2020, police filed a supplementary charge sheet against three accused, including Prakash Jarwal, on August 28.
