Raipur: A Bangladeshi aircraft has been stationed at the Swami Vivekanand Airport in Chhattisgarh's capital Raipur for the past seven years. The airport authority carried out more than two dozen e-mails and correspondences carrying the aircraft from United Airways, but there was no response. Following pressure from the Ministry of External Affairs, the Bangladeshi airlines have now assured the Central and The Raipur Airport Authority that the airport parking fee will be paid by selling the aircraft. Global online tenders for the sale of foreign aircraft will be floated shortly.

Due to the departure from Dhaka to Muscat with 173 passengers, the engine of the MD-83 aircraft caught fire and it was landed at Raipur airport in case of an emergency. Since then, the aircraft has been stationed at Raipur airport. At Bemetara, about 90 km from Raipur, a portion of the engine had broken and fell into the field due to the fire, which was brought to Raipur by placing it in a truck with the help of villagers. In the last five years, the Raipur Airport Authority has written a letter and also sent emails to take the plane, but there was no response. No initiative was taken by the Bangladesh company to carry the aircraft. Due to this, 3 directors of Raipur airport have changed. An attempt was made to contact the Raipur Airport Authority over the phone for more information in this case, but they did not receive the phone.

The news of the sale of the aircraft on behalf of the company has been reported only after sending a legal notice to United Airways Company Bangladesh. The second charge, including parking, is estimated to rise to Rs 2.50 crore in 7 years. It is an MD-83 aircraft. The price of this new aircraft in the market is more than 180 crores. It is expected that due to the old aircraft, some airline companies will buy this aircraft for more than half the price. The aircraft's old engine has also been replaced. Now, only after the sale of the aircraft, there is talk of Raipur airport getting the parking fee.
