Rampur: Senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and MP from Rampur Lok Sabha seat Azam Khan is not taking the troubles to a stand. The Johar University of Azam Khan, located in Rampur, has now been issued a notice by the Forest Department. The notice has been issued in case of cutting of 2173 trees on leased land.

The Johar University will have to respond to the notice within 7 days. The nature of 2173 trees on leased land was to be conserved. This is a case of violation of Section 4 of the Tree Conservation Act. It may be mentioned that the Johar Trust had 2173 wood trees on leased land during the tenure of the SP government. It was to be maintained as per the terms of the lease.

But now investigations have found that these trees are not on the ground. The land is located within the Johar University. The matter came to light in the investigation report of the 9 member team. That was sent to the government. Now, the Forest Department has taken action and issued a notice to Zohar University. There have already been several land grab cases against Azam Khan, even though he has been declared a land mafia.
