Forest smugglers attacked the forest personnel patrolling in the jungle late at night on the Nepal border. One forest worker Vivek Kumar was injured due to firing of forest smugglers. In the retaliatory firing by forest personnel, the wood smuggler escaped from Nepal, leaving two cycles of 2-year-old wooden logs and a mobile. The forest ministry has filed a case against unknown wood smugglers at Jhankaiya police station.
In Khatima in Udham Singh Nagar district, there is constant patrolling by forest personnel to prevent illegal timber smuggling and poaching along the border with Nepal. On Tuesday night also, forest workers of Khatima Forest Range were patrolling in the Nakhatal Forest area near Nepal border. Meanwhile, suddenly some people were seen coming from the front. When the forest staff gave them a voice, they started firing on the forest personnel.
According to the information received, forest worker Vivek Kumar was injured in the firing done by wood smugglers. After this, counter-firing by forest personnel also took place. Then the unknown wood smuggler fled after firing the forest personnel. The patrol team of the forest department seized 2 bicycles, 2-year-old wooden logs and a mobile on the occasion, in which the found SIM is being called of Nepal. After which the forest workers immediately informed Khatima forest ranger Rajendra Singh Manral about the whole incident and admitted the injured forest worker Vivek Kumar to the hospital for treatment.
Khatima forest ranger Ramdhan Mandal said that forest personnel had come face to face with timber smugglers during patrolling near Nepal border at night, where firing from both sides started. In this firing, forest worker Vivek Kumar had a bullet on his neck, due to which he got injured, he is being treated. A case has been registered against unknown wood smugglers in Jhankaiya police station.
