Big blow to AAP in Uttarakhand, Ajay Kothiyal to join BJP as party's CM face

Dehradun: Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has suffered a major setback after suffering a crushing defeat in the Uttarakhand assembly elections. Col Ajay Kothiyal, who was AAP's chief ministerial candidate in Uttarakhand, had resigned from the party's membership recently. Now the news is coming that Col. Kothiyal is going to hold the hand of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

According to sources, Col. Kothiyal, who is the CM-face of AAP in the Uttarakhand assembly elections, is likely to join the BJP along with his supporters. According to sources close to Col Kothiyal, he will join the BJP on May 24. It may be recalled that Col Ajay Kothiyal had resigned from the membership of AAP on May 18. Col. Kothiyal, in his resignation letter sent to AAP's national convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, had written that he was resigning from the membership of AAP keeping in mind the sentiments of ex-servicemen, paramilitary, elderly, women, youth and intellectuals.

Ever since Col. Kothiyal had written about resigning keeping in mind the sentiments of various sections of the people, there was speculation that he might join the BJP. Now, sources close to Col. Kothiyal have confirmed the speculations and said that he will join the BJP.
