Former AASU leader Jitu Hazarika is no more

Jitu Hazarika (55), a former AASU leader and current head of the BJP Rajdhani Mandal, died on Sunday at Guwahati's Nemcare Hospital. He was born into a teacher's family, with parents Nitya Hazarika, a former subject teacher at Hoonlal HS School, and Netra Phukan Hazarika, a former teacher at Hansara Garden LP School near here. He graduated from Cotton College in 1983 after passing his matriculation examination at Doomdooma Hoonlal HS School (Now Cotton University).

Later on, he got his LLB degree as well. He built his business in Guwahati and made it his permanent home. He actively participated in the Assam movement as a member of the AASU's Doomdooma Regional Committee and Tinsukia District Committee. He is survived by his wife and one son, as well as a large family. His passing has left a pall of melancholy throughout Doomdooma, and numerous organisations have expressed their sorrow.
