New Delhi:  Former Minister of Bihar and BJP leader Subhash Singh passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi on Tuesday morning.

The four-time Gopalganj BJP MLA has been receiving care at the AIIMS for more than a month. Aniket Singh, the younger son of Singh, who was present at the hospital, informed that "he died away about 2.40 am on Tuesday."
Singh did not cast a ballot in the July 18 presidential election since he had been enrolled at AIIMS for more than a month. He was the lone Bihar NDA MLA who was unable to vote in the election for president.

Singh served as Gopalganj's representative in the Bihar Vidhan Sabha for four straight terms and is a well-liked BJP leader in the area. He won the Gopalganj seat in the assembly elections in November 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2020. In 2020, he was appointed as a cabinet minister for the first time.

Former Bihar Minister Tarkishore Prasad tweeted to confirm the news development: "Sincere condolences are offered in honour of the late Subhash Singh, a former minister in the Bihar government and a Gopalganj MLA. May God grant him eternal rest and his grieving family members the fortitude to endure this loss. His passing leaves the BJP and the politics of Bihar with an irreparable loss. Shanti Om."
