New Delhi: Former Chief Election Commissioner of India SY Quraishi has termed Yogi Adityanath's victory in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections as a victory of communalism. At the same time, he said that love jihad is a propaganda. Muslim girls are more at a disadvantage because, from the point of view of Muslim girls, it can be said that educated Hindu girls take away educated Muslim boys. Regarding the rapid increase in the Muslim population in India, Quraishi said that this cannot happen for the next 1000 years. This has been proved in a model by Delhi-based mathematics professor Dinesh Singh.

Quraishi said family planning among Muslims is low, but it is not related to religion. In a funny way, he said that he thought that if the Muslim population in the country will increase, then they will become the Prime Minister, but that will not happen for a thousand years. On the question of Muslims executing four marriages, Quraishi said that there is a ratio of 920-22 women per 1000 men in India. In such a situation, it is difficult for every man to get one wife, so how can one get married four times. Referring to the Quran, the former election commissioner said that even in the Quran, only one verse talks about marrying unmarried and orphaned women.

Quraishi said Yogi Adityanath's victory in UP is a victory of communalism as there is a period of polarization going on in the country. He said the first polarisation took place during the partition of the country, the second during the Babri Masjid and the third phase is now underway. Describing Hindus as secular by nature, Quraishi said the people of the country are increasingly being communalized. Quraishi also reacted to the hijab controversy that started in Karnataka. He said that the hijab is not a part of the Quran, but girls have been told to wear decent clothes. He said that Sikh turbans and sindoor are allowed in school uniforms, then what is the problem with hijab. Whether the hijab is necessary or not, it is not the judge sahib, the Maulana will tell. If Maulana starts giving the verdicts of the IPC, will it be fair? Speaking to the media, Quraishi also gave a befitting reply to those who raised questions on EVMs. He said the EVM has always been credible, while the ballot goes in favour of the BJP. He said that if there was a malfunction in the EVMs, the BJP would not have lost the Bengal elections.
