New Delhi: Former Chief Justice of the country's highest court Ranjan Gogoi has been sworn in as a member of Rajya Sabha today. Former CJI Ranjan Gogoi was nominated to the Rajya Sabha by President Ramnath Kovind. During this, some members of the opposition created a ruckus in the House. While Gogoi was swearing, some opposition MPs started raising slogans of Shem-Shem and then walked out of the House.

Reacting to this entire matter, former CJI Gogoi said, 'Those who are opposing me, they will also welcome me soon'. Earlier, the decision to nominate former CJI Ranjan Gogoi to the Rajya Sabha has been challenged in the top court by author and social activist Madhu Kishwar. The petition said that the decision to send Ranjan Gogoi to the Rajya Sabha poses a serious question mark on the autonomy of the court, so it should be stayed.

The opposition took an aggressive stance after former CJI Gogoi was nominated to the Rajya Sabha by President Ram Nath Kovind. In such a situation, Ranjan Gogoi said on Tuesday that first let me take oath, then I will talk in detail to the media why I accepted this and why I am going to Rajya Sabha.
