Women's safety has became a topic of concern in society with the number of cases only increasing and absence of a strong law in such matters. Recently in Gujarat a case of blackmail and rape has came under lights. 

A 30 year women was raped and blackmailed by her former office colleague in Rajkot, Gujarat. The accused has been identified as Zubin Pathan, used to work with victim in the same office back in Ahmedabad organisation. 

The women in her statement said that he has shot her obscene pictures and videos and used to blackmail her with those saying he will put them out on social media platforms if she don't consider his demands and tried to outsmart him. He used these pictures to force her to maintain a sexual relationship with him. 

The women in her statement said that she knew the accused from her previous office as they have shared employment under same organisation in Ahmedabad back in 2018, where they have became friends while working together and has also shared same friends group. However, in 2019 she left her job from the Ahmedabad and came to Rajkot for the preparation of further competative exams and had loosed contact with him but still remained friends.

But when Zubin Pathan came to Rajkot he contacted her again to meet up as she was also in Rajkot and were friends. But the accused forcefully tried to made a sexual realtionship with her without any consent in the hotel room where he resented and called her their and has shooted some obscene videos and pictures of her on his mobile. Later he started blackmailing her and asked to maintain a physical relationship with him and listen to him. 

After this incident she stopped having any sort of communication with him anywhere, but later after few months from the incident Zubin again contacted her and blackmail her to maintain physical relationship with him and if she refused so, he will viral her pictures and videos and will make her loose her reputation. 

After being continuously harrased by Zubin, she confronted her brother and tells him about everything that has happened to her and that was her brother only who has given her strength to stand strong and lodge a complaint against him in the Rajkot Taluka police station. She then has narrated everything to the police about the harrasement and forced sexual relationship.

Rajkot police has lodge a case against him after the victim has registered a case against the accused Zubin Pathan. he is a resident of Alsager apartment D-2 in Juhapura, Ahmedabad. He has been charged with IPC 376, 506 for threating her using her private pictures and sexually harrasing her and recording the intercourse. After the complaint filed against him police has launched a manhunt to arrest the accused.
