New Delhi: Former DU Teachers’ Association (DUTA) president Aditya Narayan Misra has claimed that he had received threatening and abusive phone calls for signing the letter condemning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement calling former PM Rajiv Gandhi “corrupt”. Misra has filed a police complaint and they are probing in the matter.

In the complainant, former DU teacher said that he had received calls from unknown numbers threatening to kill him and quizzing him why he had raised concerns regarding PM Modi’s statement regarding Rajiv Gandhi. He lodged a complaint with the Maurice Nagar Police station, in which he claimed that the callers have asked him to withdraw his signature from the letter and to not repeat such an act in the future.

Few days ago, At a public rally, Modi, while hitting out at Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, said that his father (former PM Rajiv Gandhi) had been termed as Mr. Clean by his courtiers, “but his life had ended as Bhrashtachari No.1 (Corrupt No.1).”After PM’s remark, more than  200 Delhi University teachers had signed a public statement issuing a condemnation of PM Modi’s statement targeting former PM Gandhi. Photos of the letter by the DU teachers had been shared by Congress leader Sam Pitroda on Twitter a few days ago.  Along with the photos, Pitroda wrote, “Statement by over 200 Delhi University Teachers condemning Narendra Modi for his remarks on the late Rajiv Gandhi with actual signatures... Sharing some of them here.”
