Former IFS Sanatan Sonkar quits Congress and joins SP

Dehradun: Former IFS officer Sanatan Sonkar on Tuesday left the Congress and joined the SP. He will contest from the Jwalapur assembly seat in Haridwar. On Tuesday, Sanatan Sonkar reached the Samajwadi Party's state office. He was given membership by the party's state president Dr SN Sachan. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sachan said that this time SP is going to play an important role in the state as well as in the politics of Haridwar. His government will work in the interest of society. In Haridwar, many big leaders have joined the party recently. More than 10 senior leaders from Haridwar are going to join the Samajwadi Party soon.

Speaking on the occasion, former IFS Sanatan Sonkar said that while being an officer in the forest department, he was bound by rules and regulations. There are many things that can be done not only for wild animals but also for common people. That's why he chose the path of politics. After coming to the Government, he can serve the people by enacting a law.

The same Sanatan Sonkar has been posted as director of Rajaji Tiger Reserve from 2016 to 2019. Sonkar, originally from UP, had applied for voluntary retirement (VRS) five months before his retirement last year, after which the government accepted his application in October. State General Secretary Anil Kumar, State Spokesperson Ajay Sonkar, Dr Kadam Singh Balyan, State Secretary Virendra Singh, Office In-charge Gyan Chand Yadav were present on the occasion.
