New Delhi: Former Indian all-rounder Bapu Nadkarni has died in Mumbai at the age of 86. He was ill for a long time. He has the record of throwing 21 consecutive maidens in a test in his name. Sachin Tendulkar, also known as the former captain of the Indian team and master blaster, has also mourned his death.

Nadkarni was born on 4 April 1933, he played his first Test match in 1955 against New Zealand in Delhi. He played 191 first-class matches in which he took 500 wickets and scored 8880 runs. He scored 1414 runs in 41 Tests for India and took 88 wickets in his name. His best performance was 6 wickets for 43 runs. Sachin wrote in his tweet, "I am very sorry to hear about Mr. Bapu Nadkarni's death. I grew up listening to his record of throwing 21 consecutive maiden overs in Tests. My condolences to his family and loved ones."

Nadkarni threw the maidens against England in 21 consecutive overs in Chennai. In that innings, he surprised everyone by throwing a total of 32 maiden overs in which gives 5 runs and 27 maiden overs. However, despite this, he did not get any wickets in that innings.
