Thiruvananthapuram: K.T. Jaleel, the Higher Education Minister in the first Pinarayi Vijayan government,   has approached the Supreme Court against both the Lok Ayukta and the subsequent Kerala High Court verdict. KT Jaleel, on Tuesday (August 3) approached the apex court seeking redressal

Incidentally, the case pertains to an appointment made by Jaleel in 2018 when he posted his close relative as general manager in a state-owned corporation. Jaleel appointed his close relative K.T. Adeeb, as general manager in the Kerala State Minorities Development Finance Corporation, under his Ministry and since then the Youth wing of the Indian Union Muslim League - the second biggest ally of the Congress-led UDF was up in arms.

Jaleel alleged that he was denied natural justice by the Lok Ayukta, and their report was prepared with no listening to his version. He further alleged that the report was prepared based on only the verbal complaint of the complainants. Normal procedures like conducting a preliminary investigation, providing the accused with a copy of the same and listening to his version were not followed in this case. This is violation of Lok Ayukta rules 9 and 16, Jaleel pointed out in his petition.
