After a few minutes of the decision to leave the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) by Shiromani Akali Dal (Shiad) due to the ' controversial ' agriculture bills passed in Parliament, senior leader Madan Mohan Mittal has said that BJP is ready to contest all the seats in Punjab.

Former minister Mittal said the party is ready to contest all the 117 seats in the Punjab assembly elections of 2022. He also claimed that many Akali leaders are in touch with him and want to come to the BJP. Mittal told the media, "If SKD fights elections alone, it will not get a majority. ''

In the 2017 assembly elections, BJP had contested 23 seats and SAD had contested 94 seats. Out of 13 seats in the 2019 general elections, SAD had contested 10 and BJP had contested 3 seats. Former minister Mittal has been very vocal against SAD for the past few times. He said that the BJP should separate its path. He has also been claiming that the party has built a strong base in the rural areas of Punjab. Let us tell you that the relationship between these old allies had become tense only in December when Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal slammed the BJP during the debate on the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) in Parliament.
