New Delhi: The Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry is upset these days. This problem is with the former MPs. In fact, despite all the notices, threats and requests, many former MPs have not vacated the bungalow so far. Now the government is going to take a tough stand on this. The government will help former MPs evict the bungalow with the help of police. The Estate Department of the Ministry on Monday commenced strict eviction proceedings under the recently amended Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Act to strictly vacate those who are not eligible for allotment of government accommodation.

50 former MPs who did not vacate the government bungalow last week, were instructed to vacate the bungalow in three days or respond to it. After this, 10 former MPs including former MP Deepender Hooda, former MP and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath and SP's Dimple Yadav have vacated the bungalows. An official of the ministry said that under the amended law, there is a provision of strict eviction of the said property by the police for not complying with the notice of vacating the house within three days or not giving proper reason for it.

So far 40 former MPs have not vacated government bungalows despite repeated notices. Hari Manjhi was a Member of Parliament from Gaya Parliamentary constituency of Bihar in the last Lok Sabha. He was allotted bungalows number 124 and 126 at North Avenue. Apart from this, two other bungalows on North Avenue will also be evacuated with the help of police. These were allocated to guests of former MPs. Let us tell you that in the absence of a bungalow, many newly elected MPs are still staying in the guest house.
