New Delhi: Former High Court Mohammad Shahabuddin imprisoned in Tihar Jail has been given parole by the Delhi High Court. He can stay out of jail for 3 days and 6 hours. Shahabuddin had demanded from the court that he would like to spend some time with his mother in the wake of his father's death in September, following which the Delhi High Court gave Shahabuddin a conditional parole.
According to this parole, he can remain out of jail for 6 hours for 3 days. The father of Bihar's Bahubali and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader died on September 19, after which he was constantly trying for parole. After the father's death, Shahabuddin demanded custodial parole on the basis of the mother being ill. The court has accepted Shahabuddin's application. According to the court, within 30 days he will be able to choose any of the 3 dates as per his wish and according to the rules, Shahabuddin will get a meeting time of 6 hours from 6:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Travel time will also be included.
A bench of Justice AJ Bhambhani of the Delhi High Court has given instructions for adequate security arrangements while allowing 6-6 hour custodial parole in any three days. He will not be able to meet anyone except his mother, wife and other relatives. The court has also made it clear that Shahabuddin will have to inform the jail superintendent in advance of a place in Delhi itself for custodial parole.
