Moscow: Following Moscow's accusation that Kiev had launched a drone attack on the Kremlin, ex-Russian president Dmitry Medvedev called for the "physical elimination" of Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday.

The physical eradication of Zelensky and his cabal is the only course of action after today's terrorist attack, according to Medvedev, who has grown more hawkish since Moscow's offensive in Ukraine.

The Russian Duma speaker and Putin ally Vyacheslav Volodin added his voice to the discussion by urging a harsh response against Ukraine.

According to Volodin, "We will demand the use of weapons capable of halting and destroying the Kyiv terrorist regime." In a drone attack on the Kremlin citadel in central Moscow earlier on Wednesday, Russia accused Ukraine of trying to kill President Vladimir Putin and threatened to retaliate.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, refuted the assertion and declared that his nation would soon launch a counteroffensive against Russian forces on its own soil. Antony Blinken, the US secretary of state, also questioned the validity of the report.

I am aware of the reports. We simply don't know, so I am unable to confirm them," Blinken said at a Washington event. Anything coming from the Kremlin, in my opinion, should be treated with a very large grain of salt.

The Kremlin Senate, which houses the presidential administration, has a domed roof that AFP observed some people ascending on Moscow's famous Red Square.

Despite unverified social media images purporting to show the roof being hit by an explosion from a potential drone, it appeared to be unharmed. There was no increased police presence and people were walking around freely.

The parade, which will take place on May 9, has already had banners and seating set up. Moscow has promised that it will. However, there were people who were shaken and perplexed on the streets of Moscow. Student Viktor, 21, said, "I feel somewhere between shock and suspicion."

Whether this is actually a military operation or merely a staging for unknown purposes is not yet entirely clear.

Others claimed that a significant incident of this nature in Russia was inevitable given the recent increase in apparent sabotage and the months-long drone attacks on the nation. In the previous five days, there have been two train explosions that have derailed them, oil depot fires near and in Crimea, and power line explosions close to Saint Petersburg.

Vera Ilyinichna, 71, said, "I was waiting for something like this to happen. The elderly man expressed relief that a residential building had not been struck by the drone. "The Kremlin is better protected," she declared. "But what worries me more are residential buildings, where old people and children reside and where we work."
