France's foreign ministry has made an earnest plea to the Nigerien security forces, calling for decisive action to uphold "the security of foreign diplomatic rights of way and diplomatic personnel."

The basis for this demand rests on international law, specifically citing the Vienna Convention, which mandates the protection of foreign embassies.

The escalating unrest has already taken a severe toll on embassy safety. In a troubling incident, a violent demonstration erupted outside the French mission on Tuesday.

In response to the escalating hostility, Paris was left with no choice but to evacuate its citizens from the volatile region. The decision to evacuate came as a necessary precaution to ensure the well-being of French nationals, many of whom sought refuge amid the mounting chaos.

The recent coup, orchestrated by the elite presidential guard, has sparked anger and resentment against France, which has maintained a long-standing alliance with Niger and has historical ties as a former colonial power.

The anti-French sentiments were visibly demonstrated during the rally outside the embassy, with crowds shouting slogans against their once-trusted ally.

In a swift operation, nearly 1,000 people were evacuated to France, a vast majority of whom were French nationals. However, it's crucial to note that other foreign nationals were also included in this rescue mission, highlighting the severity of the security situation and its impact on the international community.
