Dubbo (Australia): The foster mother who punched her 20-month-old baby in the stomach before killing her has been sentenced to at least 18 years in prison in Dubbo.

The woman entered a guilty plea for murder, but NSW Supreme Court Justice Richard Cavanagh found her guilty on Thursday and sentenced her to 26 years and 6 months in full-time prison.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, assaulted the child "as part of an ongoing episode" after returning home to Dabboo on the evening of March 22, 2015, the subject of a Crown case.

At 5.17 a.m. on March 23, the foster mother dialed 911, and when paramedics arrived, she had no pulse and was not breathing.

she was declared brought dead at Coolah Hospital at 7:30 a.m. with a head injury, a fractured left femur and a hole in his abdomen. 24 separate bruises, abrasions or scratches were found.

The judge concluded that there was no premeditation or planning involved in the woman's decision not to kill the child. But Justice Cavanagh said, "I believe the perpetrator intended to cause harm to the deceased."

"An adult cannot punch a 20-month-old child so hard as to tear his stomach with the intention of causing grievous bodily harm.

The law states “An adult may not impact a child with such force as to cause a complete fracture of the femur with the intention of causing grievous harm to the child.”

The circumstances of what happened are still unknown as the woman asserts her innocence and does not express regret.

The judge came to the conclusion that a brief loss of control over the home that night was the only plausible explanation.

The boy's mother passed away after his death; He was born in July 2013.

The foster mother took the child to a neighbor's house on the afternoon of March 22, 2015, while a game of rugby league was being broadcast on a large screen in the backyard.

Several people who interacted with the child noted that he was not in pain or had any injuries at the time.

The trial evidence showed that the woman was able to act aggressively after drinking alcohol.

He gave three interviews to the police, and in none of them there is any information about how the injury occurred.

She claimed that during her attempts at CPR, her partner inadvertently stepped on her, causing some injuries, but the judge dismissed it as improbable.

The woman was never arrested and was previously considered a kind person.

According to the judge, he had a good chance of rehabilitation, and was unlikely to commit another crime.

On May 7, 2037, she will be eligible for release for the first time.
