France President and PM Modi to co-chair International Solar Alliance summit 2018

NEW DELHI: President of France, Emmanuel Macron will begin his four-day India visit accompanied by his wife, Brigitte Marie-Claude Macron, and a delegation of businessmen and ministry officials from March 9 to 12.

 The visit of President Macron is aimed at strengthening the bilateral economic, political and strategic dimensions.

The strategic corporation between India and France established in 1998.

India-France ties marks the most important and comprehensive bilateral engagements with intense of frequently high-level exchanges and deep political understanding.

Both sides will continue to augment with combine forces in the defense, maritime, space, security, and energy-related sectors.

Bilateral talks between both nations will also focus on issues of major concerns such as terrorism, climate change, sustainable growth and development, infrastructure, smart urbanization, science and technology cooperation and youth exchanges.

Prime Minister Modi and the French President will inaugurate the conference of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), which will be held on March 11.

The ISA, a grand association of more than 121 nations was made its first move by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2016.

The primary objective of the ISA is aimed to work for efficient exploitation of solar energy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

French President last visited India in January 2016 as the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations while Prime Minister Modi had last tour in France on June 2017.
