Paris: The confirmed cases registered in France were 4,005 of coronavirus and deaths reported were 406 from the epidemic in the last 24 hours. The number of hospitalized patients is continuing a downward trend, as the data released is released by health authorities.

After the pandemic outbreak, a total number of 2,222,488 infected people have been reported for novel coronavirus. From the total number obtained 52,731 have died, respectively. The patients in hospitals stood at 28,258, a one-day decrease of 55 people, and of those hospitalized who are put on ventilators are 3,751, down by five from Sunday's data. The country's top health advisory body, High Health Authority, early on Monday recommended a vaccination campaign in five stages and on a volunteer basis which should target first nursing home residents and their staff. In the second phase, people aged over 65 and caregivers will be given the vaccination. The three other stages would be progressive and target people with comorbidity and other professionals exposed to the virus.

President Emmanuel Macron announced last week that the vaccination program would hopefully start at the end of December or early January, and provides the efficiency and safety of vaccines to be approved by regulators. Countries including France, China, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States are racing to find a vaccine soon.
