Mumbai: Two organizations in Pune have lodged a protest in Maharashtra in a Marathi textbook of eighth grade with martyr Bhagat Singh and Rajguru for missing freedom fighter Sukhdev. The Brahmin Federation and Sambhaji Brigade have said that history is being distorted. The text titled 'Majhaya Deshawar Majhe Prem Aahe (I love my country) states that Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Kurban Hussain sacrificed their lives for the country, but Sukhdev's name is not mentioned anywhere in this text.'

It is worth mentioning that the revolutionary Sukhdev was hanged by the British government along with Bhagat Singh and Rajguru on 23 March 1931 in the Sanders murder case. It is mentioned in the book that Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Kurban Hussain martyred on the noose for the country. However, it does not say that Hussein was hanged along with martyrsn Bhagat Singh and Rajguru. The absence of Sukhdev with Bhagat Singh and Rajguru in the relevant chapter has created a panic in the state.

State School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said that the related chapter was included in the syllabus in 2018 when the BJP was in power in the state. She said that the related line is taken from the book of well-known author late Yadunath and it cannot be changed without the permission of his family. Congress leader said that the syllabus can be changed only after the new education policy of the Center is implemented.
