Bhopal: The Freedom of Religion Bill 2021 was passed in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Monday. This bill has been brought in place of the government's ordinance in January, in which someone has been converted by deception. The bill provided for 10 years imprisonment in some cases and heavy fines for violators. The bill, passed on 9 January, provides for the punishment of those who convert to false religion for marriage.
The state Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that within a month of this, 23 cases were registered under the ordinance. He said that maximum seven cases have been registered in Bhopal division, out of which five have been reported in Indore, four each in Jabalpur and Rewa and three in Gwalior division. The case was registered under a new anti-conversion law after a teacher was accused by a teacher of a missionary school in Bhopal. The female teacher alleged that the accused tortured her.
The bill clearly aims to hit the final nail in the 'Love Jihad' coffin. Let us tell you that there were some cases of Muslim boys in Madhya Pradesh calling Hindu girls mistakenly identified, trapped in the trap of their love and then marrying and forced the conversion of religion, after which the Love Jihad Ordinance was brought.
