Paris [France], Jun 8 (NT): Spanish tennis ace Rafael Nadal on Friday surpassed Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro to enter into his record 11th final of the French Open with a 6-4, 6-1, 6-2 succeed in the men's semi-final clash.

It is noted that Top seed Nadal has a striking record at the Roland Garros as he won 85 of out of his 87 meetings played in the annual tournament so far. He will now be looking to win a record 11th grand slam title of the tournament.

The Spaniard will now clash seventh seed Dominic Thiem of Croatia after he earlier crushed Marco Cecchinato of Italy 7-5, 7-6 (10), 6-1 in their men's singles semi-final match.

 Worth mention here Thiem is also the first Austrian to get to a grand slam final at Roland Garros since Thomas Muster's win in 1995.

Reaching into the final at Roland Garros, Thiem's prospects of claiming his first grand slam will be boosted as he is the only player to hit Nadal on clay twice in 2017 and 2018).

The World No. 7 Thiem beat top seed Nadal earlier in Madrid Open in May this year and in the Italian Open last year. (NT)
