New Delhi: Roger Federer has become the first player in the world to play 400 Grand Slam matches, and he celebrates it by making a place in the final sixteen of the French Open by winning straight sets at the Casper Rudd of Norway. 37-year-old Federer had to fight against Rudd in the third set, but in the end, he managed to win 6-3, 6-1, 7-6 (10/8).

2009 winner Roger Federer has reached the fourth round of the French Open for the 14th time, where he will be facing the Argentinean Leonardo Mayer. Federer said after the match,  "I'm happy that I'm putting myself in a position like this, in a fourth round of the French Open after not having played here for three years. I think for me the first goal has been reached by getting this deep into the tournament and knowing where exactly my game is at, knowing where the fitness is, the mind is."

In the women's section, Caroline Piliskova had to face defeat in the third round. Among the women, Croatia’s 31stseed Petra Martic shocked second-seeded Karolina Pliskova 6-3, 6-3 to move into the fourth round; in an upset of sorts, former French Open champion Garbine Muguruza put out the ninth seed from Ukraine Elina Svitolina 6-3, 6-3.
