New Delhi: French President Emmanuel Macron has accepted an invitation to be the chief guest at India's Republic Day celebrations on January 26. A contingent from the French Army is set to participate in this year's Republic Day. This invitation reflects the deepening ties between India and France, spanning defense, security, clean energy, trade, investment, and new technologies.

Emmanuel Macron, during his 2-day tour, will visit Delhi and Jaipur. He will be traveling with a delegation comprising several ministers, CEOs, and personalities from the cultural and scientific sectors. The visit will commence with a roadshow in Jaipur on January 25, featuring Macron and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A bilateral meeting is likely between the two leaders, where major announcements are expected in the defense and strategic sectors. India and France have expressed their commitment to cooperating in the co-development and co-production of advanced defense technologies, with potential benefits for third countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this year was the Guest of Honour at the Bastille Day parade in Paris on July 14, further highlighting the strengthening ties between the two nations. The participation of the French Army in India's Republic Day celebrations underscores the collaborative efforts and shared interests in various domains. The visit holds strategic importance, as both countries aim to deepen their partnership and explore new avenues for mutual cooperation.
