Ashwini Kalsekar started her career as a villain in daily soap, from being a famous villain in daily soap to comic roles in films like Golmaal, All the best. Once speaking about her journey and how Ekta Kapoor shows framed her career. She said, “ I can never be relaxed when I'm shooting the part and that's what I like. Being a little stressed about your character helps better your performance. Ekta had given me a complete free hand during 'Kasamh Se' and I learnt how to abuse or insult someone well during shooting for that show, so that remains a favourite and during CID' no one treated me like a woman. I was treated royally like a man throughout the shoot so that is another favourite.”

She made her bollywood debut from the film titled ‘The Hero: Love Story of a Spy’ in which she shared the screen space along with Sunny Deol. Her personal life also remained in news. She got married to Nitesh Pandey but their wedding did not last, and they got divorced in the year 2002.  After this the actress dated Murali Sharma. Murali is also an actor and the duo got married in the year 2009.
