Fuel Price May Come Down This Diwali: Dharmendra Pradhan

Dharmendra Pradhan who is Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister said today that the fuel price may come down by this Diwali.The comments come amid criticism by opposition parties of a sharp rise in oil prices after the daily rate revision mechanism was introduced by the government recently.

" Fuel prices may come down by Diwali," said by the minister who was on a brief visit. Dharmendra Pradhan who is also given additional charge of the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship.

When asked on the matter of the oil companies, he said that " everything is crystal clear", ruling margins for the companies. And when asked adding oil under the goods and services tax ( GST ), Pradhan said that he hoped that it might be brought under GST and definitely it will give enormous benefit to customers.

The current fuel price in various cities are like in Delhi : Rs 70.52, Mumbai : Rs 79.6, Kolkata : Rs 73.26, Kolkata : Rs 73.23. As of now, petrol prices contain other elements like Centre-imposed excise duty, state-imposed VAT and dealer's commission. So if fuel is brought under GST, petrol price can come down to Rs. 38 per litre from Rs. 70 at 12 percent GST
