Petrol and diesel were priced at Rs 110.49 and Rs 101.56 per litre in Kolkata, West Bengal, and Rs 106.66 and Rs 102.59 per litre in Chennai, respectively. Meanwhile, the central government is in talks with a number of oil-exporting countries about oil supply and demand, but no immediate price relief is expected.

Previously, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas was said to have expressed concerns about oil pricing, supply, and demand to the major oil-producing countries. "As crude oil prices rise globally, the petroleum ministry has contacted the energy ministries of a number of countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, and others," the source said.
