Fuel prices rise by 80 paise per litre for the second consecutive day

Petrol and diesel prices were upped by 80 paise per litre across the country on Wednesday for the second consecutive day.

Petrol and fuel prices in the national capital have been hiked by 80 paise per litre. Petrol will be sold at Rs 97.01 per litre today, while diesel will be sold at Rs 88.27 per litre. Petrol and diesel prices in the country's financial capital, Mumbai, have been risen by 85 paise per litre, to Rs 111.67 and Rs 95.85 per litre, respectively.

Petrol costs Rs 102.91 per litre in Chennai, up 75 paise, while diesel costs Rs 92.95 per litre, up 76 paise. While fuel prices jumped by 83 paise per litre in Kolkata, diesel prices increased by 80 paise per litre. In Kolkata, petrol and diesel would be sold at Rs 106.34 and Rs 91.42 per litre, respectively.

Petrol and diesel prices vary per state due to the presence of value-added tax. On Tuesday, fuel prices were increased for the first time in four months. Earlier on Tuesday, opposition parties raised a stink in the Rajya Sabha over the country's soaring fuel prices.
