Fuel prices rise for the 5th straight day, petrol stands at Rs 71.14 in Capital

New Delhi: The raise is retail petrol and diesel prices were seen for the fifth straight day on Monday. The price of petrol became increased by 18-20 paise while diesel price rose by 26-28 paise per litre across four big cities of the country.

Petrol price climbed to Rs 71.14 a litre as against Rs 70.95 on Sunday while diesel price rose to Rs 65.71 a litre as compared to Rs 65.47 on Sunday in the Delhi.  Talking about fuel price in  Mumbai, according to  Indian Oil Corporation website, petrol is priced at Rs 76.77 today higher than Sunday’s cost of 76.58, while diesel sells for Rs 68.81 per litre, 28 paise higher than yesterday's price.

In Kolkata petrol prices were raised by 18 paise and reached to Rs 73.23. In Chennai, the petrol price rose by 20 paise to 73.85. However, diesel is priced at Rs 67.49 and Rs 69.41 respectively.

On Ocober 4, 2018, petrol price had reached Rs 84 per litre in Delhi and it was recorded above Rs 91 in Mumbai. It may be noted that the retail price of fuel largely depends on global crude oil price and rupee-dollar exchange rate as India imports 80 per cent of its energy needs.
