Gurdaspur: On January 13, 26-year-old Jawan Ranjit Singh Salaria of village Siddhpur in district Gurdaspur of Punjab, posted in Uri sector of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, was martyred. On Friday, his body reached his native village Siddhpur. He was cremated here with full military honors. The martyred soldier's three-month-old daughter, Pari, offered him the fire, while the mother and sister shoulder the bier. During this time, the atmosphere of the entire village became extremely sad.
On January 17, Ranjit Singh Salaria's body reached the village draped in the tricolor, then everyone had tears in his eyes. The compassionate sobs of mother Reena Devi, father Harbans Singh, wife Diya and sister Jeevan Jyoti were riddling the hearts of the people. When wife Diya saw the martyr husband's coffin, she lost patience. The same words came out from the mouth of the crying martyr's wife, 'Take my Ranjit out of the coffin, he is choking.
When the soldiers of the army wrapped in the tricolor started taking the body of Ranjit's body to the crematorium, then for four days, the mother and sister of the unconscious martyr did not know how much power came from the shoulder that he shouldered his bier and reached Muktidham.
