New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the G-7 summit this year as a special guest. French President Emmanuel Macron sent him an invitation for the Summit, which was accepted on Monday. The G-7 summit has been held in Biauritz, France, between 24 and 26 August this year.

According to Information, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said on Monday that Macron's initiative shows the chemistry between the two leaders. On accepting the invitation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's invitation to France, French Deputy Foreign Minister Jean-Baptist Lemyan said that India's visit to the G-7 will strengthen the strategic and bilateral partnership between the two countries. Lemian is currently on a tour of India. After Modi became the prime minister again, he is the first European leaders to have come to India. Earlier, the foreign leaders had reached the swearing-in ceremony of Modi, the head of the BIMSTEC countries. Last week, U.S. Deputy Minister of Political-military affairs Clarke Cooper also came to India.
