Gadkari to inaugurate 6.5 km Z-Morh tunnel on Srinagar today

SRINAGAR: Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of Road Transport and National Highways, reached Sonamarg today along with J&K Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and members of Parliament to visit the site of the Zojila tunnel and to inaugurate the Z-Morh tunnel on Srinagar-Leh highway.

Gadkari is slated to inaugurate the Z-Morh tunnel, transforming Sonamarg into an all-year-round tourism attraction.
The Ladakh region will be connected to the rest of the nation by the year-round open Zojila Tunnel, which is anticipated to be finished by 2026.

Being a member of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Gadkari will also address the MPs 

At a high-level meeting on Monday, the Union Minister will assess the state of the National Highways and Roads in the Union Territories of Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir.

He would inform the PCC members about the number of MORTH projects now underway in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh's Union Territories, including those on key roads and National Highways.

On April 11, Gadkari will visit the Banihal-Ramban section of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and check on the status of the construction along with Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Dr. Jitendra Singh.

In the afternoon, they would also tour the construction site for the Intermodal Station (IMS) at the holy city of Katra in the Reasi district and Katra-Delhi Expressway.

The minister will return to New Delhi in the afternoon of April 11.
