Both Smartphone comes with 6.4 inches full HD+ super AMOLED, 4000mah battery, USB type-C. However, Samsung A 30 comes with lesser memory than Galaxy A 50.

Equipment

In the box with the A30, we found headphones, a cable with USB and USB Type-C connectors, a clip to remove the SIM card, a power supply and documentation.

In the A50, the contents of the package are similar, except for headphones - they were not. This is a flaw in the sample that Samsung provided us for testing: judging by the unpacking from the Internet, they still exist in the smartphone bundle from the stores.

Design

A30 and A50 are available in black, white and blue. Also, each model has its own modification: A30 is sold in red, and A50 - in coral color.

We got the model in white. They are very similar from afar and are equally dirty with greasy fingers, but they are a little differently naked near mother of pearl.

The design of the rear panels is minimalistic: the camera modules and the brand name are located here, while the A30 also has a fingerprint sensor.

Screens look and feel like frameless. There is a slightly thickened bottom edge and a drop-shaped notch, but they do not interfere with the work with the smartphone.

Buttons and connectors on the case of the models are the same and are identical: on the right there is a power button and a twin volume key, on the bottom there is a speaker and USB Type-C and mini-jack connectors, on the left there is a slot for SIM cards. Non-hybrid slots, they fit two nanoSIM and microSD-card up to 512 GB.

A30 and A50 are twins, the appearance of which is meaningless to describe separately. Even their dimensions are the same: A30 and A50 are large and weighty devices the size of S10 + , which will appeal to owners of phablets.

Both models look stylish and expensive: the materials and quality of the A series are really flagship.

Class dust and moisture protection is not declared.

Screen

Here, Samsung keeps the bar: the displays of the A-series models in 2018 correspond to the level of the S-series models in 2019-m. These are perhaps the best SuperAMOLED screens on the market, but without the latest innovations, such as support for HDR10 + with dynamic color display, as in S10 +. Recall, videos of this format really look great, but, unfortunately, there are still too few of them for their support to really become an important function. A30 and A50 displays have enough brightness to use in the sun, rich colors, correct calibration and a lot of settings. Always on Display mode is supported, at which time, date and battery status can be seen on the locked screen.

Sound

The sound of both models comes from a single speaker located below. Low and medium frequencies lose much high. The loudspeaker volume is enough for a clear call, but listening to music or watching movies on the A30 and A50 is uncomfortable. Headphones included mediocre.

Well, okay, in the end, this is not the flagship, and smartphones for 16 and 20 thousand rubles - there must be compromises.

Camera

A set of lenses in the main A30 module: a 16-megapixel main camera with f / 1.7 aperture and a 5-megapixel ultra wide-angle with a f / 2.2 aperture. Module A50: 25-megapixel main camera with f / 1.7 aperture, 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle with f / 2.2 aperture and 5-megapixel sensor, which is responsible for the recognition of depth.

Despite the different lenses, in normal mode, the A30 and A50 take pictures of roughly the same quality. With good lighting, everything is fine, with its lack - much worse. Noise erupts, details are lost, and light sources knock the exposure settings down so that either they or the darker parts of the frame are not distinguishable. When switching from the main to the ultra-wide-angle lens, the situation is aggravated - it’s better not to shoot dark landscapes.

For portraits in the A50 meets the additional lens, which is not in the module A30. Therefore, shooting in the “Live Focus” mode is different for models: the A30 algorithms are less willing to catch the object into focus and do not always recognize faces with glasses and a beard.

Performance

The A30 slightly loses the A50 already at the initial setup stage: all operations on the older model take a little less time. The fact is that different processors are installed in smartphones: Exynos 9610 with a frequency of up to 2.3 GHz in the A50 against Exynos 7904 with a frequency of up to 1.8 GHz in the A30. There could play a role and configuration: 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of ROM in A50 vs 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of ROM in A30. Samsung also sells A50 versions with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of ROM.

In this case, even the A50 top-end modification is much inferior to the flagships. Both models feel the power limit: sometimes the shell lags a little, and not all games run at maximum graphics settings. Nevertheless, it is possible to use both the A30 and A50 comfortably: they cope with ordinary daily tasks.

Unlock

One of the main differences between the models is the fingerprint sensor. In the A30, it is located on the rear panel, in the A50 - in the display. Sensors work equally fast, and after several days of use, you will probably get used to any of them.

Also, both models have an unlock on the face, but the manufacturer does not vouch for its safety. Only the front-facing camera is responsible for reading the face, which can be deceived even by the owner's portrait.

Autonomy

Both models have batteries with a capacity of 4000 mAh. This lasts for one and a half, two or even three days depending on the usage scenario. It is stated that smartphones can function autonomously up to 18 hours when watching a video and up to 14 when working in LTE.

Supports fast charging, adaptive power supplies for 9 V and 1.67 A / 5 V and 2 A included.

Differences A30 and A50

Very few differences.

  • Colors. In addition to the black, white and blue versions of the A30 is sold in red, and the A50 - in coral.
  • Cameras. There are three in the A50, and two in the A30. Resolution and aperture lenses are also different. When shooting in the main mode, the difference is insignificant, but on the A50 it's easier to make beautiful portraits.
  • Processors Smartphones have different versions of Exynos.
  • RAM. 3 GB in A30 versus 4 or 6 GB in A50. Together with the previous point, this makes the A50 more powerful and faster in similar operations.
  • Built-in memory. The A30 has 32 GB, the A50 has versions with 64 or 128 GB.
  • Fingerprint sensor location. At A30 - on the back. At A50 - in the screen.

Results

It seems Samsung this year decided to take quantity. A30 and A50 - only two smartphones from the line, which currently has seven devices from A10 to A80. The positioning of the A-series is obvious: they are solid middle frames without borders, which look like flagships, but cost less.

These smartphones can be blamed for performance, far from the top, or, for example, in a mediocre camera, which is no good with a lack of lighting. But at this moment it is worth remembering about their price.
