But today we are going to tell you about a story which is considered to be the biggest defeat of Mahatma Gandhi's life.

September 23, 1944 is the time when Mahatma Gandhi was working hard to drive the British out of India. During this time Mahatma Gandhi wrote two letters to Muhammad Ali Jinnah. In the first letter, he wrote that our discussion last evening was not very good. We never meet on one page. Our thoughts and our thoughts are seen moving in parallel to each other. He further wrote that we do not want to break up with each other, so we started the exercise to discuss again. I want you to tell me what you want my signature to be. You should inform me of this through a letter.

Jinnah answered this letter with great displeasure. Jinnah wrote that you do not have the status to represent anyone. The signature will come when you have the ability to become a representative. He wrote that my decision cannot be changed. We will stick to the principles of the Lahore proposal of March 1940. This proposal was made about the two-nation theory and the partition of India. And this was Gandhiji's biggest failure.
