We all are ready for the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi. The festival celebrates Ganesha as the God of New Beginnings and the Remover of Obstacles as well as the god of wisdom and intelligence. The festival, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi concludes after the 11th day and the idol is taken in a procession and immersed in the holy water body. 
Lord Ganesha is known as the God of wealth, sciences, knowledge, wisdom and prosperity, and that's why most Hindus remember him and seek his blessings before starting any important work. Lord Ganesh is known by 108 different names like Gajanana, Vinayaka, Vighnaharta among others.
Story of Lord Ganesh
Lord Ganesha was created by Parvati out of dirt from her body to guard her in the absence of Shiva. She gave him the task of guarding her bathroom door while she took a bath. In the meantime, Shiva returned home and Ganesha, who didn't know who Shiva was, stopped him. This angered Shiva and he severed Ganesha's head after a tiff between the two. Parvati was enraged when she came to know about this; Lord Shiva, in turn, promised to get Ganesha back to life. Ganesh Chaturthi plays a significant role in the Hindu religion. As people take Ganesh ji at home but if you are also welcoming Lord Ganesha then remember to avoid doing these things.


Ganpati's 'sthapna' will be done on August 31 between 11:05 pm to 01:38 pm. The immersion of Ganpati Bappa's idol will take place on the day of Ganesh Chaturdashi, which is on Friday, September 9.


As per popular belief, Ganesh ji visits your home, therefore. Do not close the main door of the house while installing the idol or at the time of immersing him. One family member at least, should be present during both these occasions.

Avoid consuming any meat and alcohol during the 10 days festival.
 It is better if you  also Avoid consuming onion and garlic after Ganpati sthapna whether it is for prasad or for household consumption.

Puja should be performed wholeheartedly with good intentions. Avoid quarrels or fights at home, and maintain a good positive environment during the festival days. Foul words, negative thoughts, and verbal fights in the presence of the lord are strictly prohibited. Try to be calm and reposed as Lord Ganesha, during as well as after the time of worship, will take care of you.

Don't be overenthusiastic and decorate Lord Ganesha with all heavy jewelry. It is not a good omen if it breaks notwithstanding the weight of the ornaments

D o you for different reasons, not all people take Ganeshi ji at home. If you don't prefer to install the idol of Lord Ganesha in your house, visit a nearby Ganesh temple and offer jaggery modak and coconut to him.
