New Delhi: Amid the economic downturn in the country, the 10-day Ganeshotsav festival is starting from 2 September. This festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with enthusiasm across the country, but this time the effect of the recession on this festival is clearly seen.

From the sculptors making the idol of Lord Ganesha to the organizers who built the grand pandal for worship, everyone is troubled by the recession. Madan Prajapati, who has been making the idols of Lord Ganesha for almost 25 years, has prepared about 80 sculptures this year. Madan says that the recession has brought some problems. He said that compared to previous years, the demand for idols is less this year. Madan explains the reason behind this, saying that many such people, who were carrying the idols till last year, but this time due to less donations did not come to take the idol.

Madan says that every year people belonging to many worship committees carrying idols from him have not come to him this year so far. Sculptor Madan is not the only one who is struggling with the low demand for idols due to the recession. Pooja committees, which have been preparing for a long time to provide grandeur to the puja, along with other sculptors, are also facing a problem and the crisis is the lack of funds.
