The story of Ganga Landing — The Sun-dynasty Sriram was born in Ayodhya. In his ancestors a Chakrabarty emperor was the Maharaja Asgar. Of his two queens, a son was confused with Keshni, and the other Queen was 60 thousand sons from सुमति. The son of confusion was Anshuman. Saddened by the evil of all the sons of the Maharaja Asgar, King Asgar removed the confusion from the kingdom. His grandson, Anshuman, was compassionate, religious, generous, and respectful of others. King Asgar made Anshuman his successor. In the meantime, King Asgar, the 60 thousand sons of the consumed King Asgar, organized the ashrams in his state, where he left his sacrificial horse, which was stolen by Indra, King of the Gods, and tied to the ashram of Kapiluni in the underworld. The 60 thousand Sons of King Asgar were searching for that horse, and even after a million attempts, they did not find a sacrificial horse. In the absence of a horse on earth, they began to dig the earth out of a place and reached the underworld. In search of the horse, they all reached the ashram of Kapil Muni, where the horse was tied.

When the horse was tied to the ashram of the Muni, the 60 thousand sons of King Asgar were angry and proud to run for a strike on Kapil Muni. When Kapil Muni opened his eyes and his fast, all the 60 thousand sons of Raja Asgar were burnt there. Anshuman was informed of the incident by गरुड, and he went to the ashram of the Muni and was very sympathetic. The Muni then allowed Anshuman to take the horse and suggested the Ganga water to touch his ashes for the salvation of 60 thousand brothers. First King Asgar, then Anshuman, King Anshuman's son Dileep tried to delight the Ganges but did not succeed. Then Raja Dileep's son, Bhagirath, with his penance, Blessed Brahma Ji and sought the blessing of sending Ganga to the Earth.

Brahma Ji said that only Lord Shiva can handle the velocity of the Ganges, you have to delight him. Then the Bhagirath expressed his desire to delight Lord Shiva with harsh austerity. Then Lord Shiva stopped the Ganges from the kaandal of Brahma in his jatas and then left them on the earth. Thus the Ganga was landed from heaven to earth and 60 thousand sons of Maharaja Asgar received salvation. Ganga is also known as ' Bhagirathi ' due to Bhagirath's austerity.
