CHENNAI: Ganga Nayak, the DMK's transgender candidate who won from Vellore corporation's ward 37, has big hopes for her district.

Ganga, who defeated her AIADMK opponent by a razor-thin margin of 15 votes, is a social activist located in Vellore and the Secretary of the South India Transgender Association.

During a press conference in Vellore on Wednesday, the 49-year-old said: "I am grateful to the residents of Ward 37 for their trust in me. I am quite grateful to the DMK for allowing me to participate in polls." People in the community were very supportive of her while she was running for office and during her campaign, she added. People used to talk about the ward's future with Ganga, she added.

 

The 49-year-old said that a number of issues are afflicting the public, including drinking water shortages, better streetlights, women's public restrooms, and children's playgrounds, and that she will work to address them. She stated that she would involve all parties involved in resolving the challenges facing her constituents.

R. Ganga also stated that she will visit with everyone in her constituency and compile a list of issues that must be resolved as soon as possible. She also stated that she would give her contact information with the voters in her ward so that they could reach her directly.
