Kolkata: A gas cylinder exploded in an illegal factory in South 24 Parganas district in West Bengal on Saturday (April 24th) morning. Eleven employees were injured in the accident, three of whom are in critical condition. Officials rushed to the spot after receiving information about the case and started an investigation. At present, the factory has been sealed.

Police said the incident took place around 7.30 am at an illegal leather factory in the Malancha-Padmapukur area of Bhangore police station area. The spot is about 20 kilometers away from Kolkata. A police official said three injured are in critical condition and have been taken to Kolkata for treatment. He said the other injured are undergoing treatment at a hospital in the district.

The investigating officer said the factory has been sealed after the incident. He estimated that the gas cylinder kept in the factory exploded. At present, the forensic examination is required to ascertain the exact cause of the blast. The official said a large number of police forces have been deployed in the area and the matter is under investigation.
