Gas cylinder blast in Pakistan's Karachi, 1 killed, 6 injured

ISLAMABAD: A gas cylinder explosion in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi killed one person and injured six others, including children, according to police authorities.

According to police sources, the event occurred inside a multi-story structure in Karachi's Lyari neighbourhood, the provincial capital of southern Sindh province. According to Xinhua news agency, the residential building was also partially destroyed by the cylinder blast, which police believe was caused by a gas leak. The victims were taken to a neighbouring hospital and are being treated for severe burn injuries.

Last month-end, on October 30, there was an explosion reported in Karkchi’s North Nazimabad locality where  at least four people were killed and six others, including two women, suffered injuries t, local media reported citing police and rescue officials. The incident took place at a petrol pump near Abdullah College, DIG West Zone. Nazimabad police station house officer said that a "cylinder blast" had occurred at a Byco petrol pump in North Nazimabad, Block-A.
