New Developments are taking place in Telangana every now and then. Recently, the gates of the Nagarjuna Sagar Project got lifted at Nalgonda. Keeping in mind the lifting of gates of Nagarjuna Sagar Project which was scheduled at 11 am on Friday, the officials of Water Resource Development lifted 18 crest gates of NSP tail pond at Adavidevulapally and released 76,203 cusecs of water downstream. There are presently 20 gates.

The water level in the NSP tail pond at 8 am was 74.08 feet as against a full reservoir level of 75.50 feet. The water storage in tailpond was 6.133 tmc as against gross storage capacity of 7.08 tmc. The total discharge of water into the river from tail pond was 79, 783 cusecs. An advisory from the Central Water Commission (CWC) stated that due to heavy rains in the last 14-to-15 days upstream of the Krishna and Bhima basin, along with a heavy rainfall warning for the next five days, inflows are expected to be high.

The water level in Nagarjuna Sagar Project touched 580.80 feet as against full reservoir level of 590 feet. The current water storage was 285.3216 tmc as against 312.0450 tmc of gross storage capacity. Water release to NSP to left canal was 2712 cusecs and 1800 cusecs to SLBC canal. Inflow to the project was increased to 3,50,102 cusecs.
