The Ganga of Yamalok, which is described in the Mahabharata epic, Mahakavi Ved Vyas Ji told about the Rudra Roop of the River Ganga. The talk of this river in the Hindu scripture in the Garuna Purana is explained as hundred purposes, that is 120 km.

After the death of a person, the soul is brought here by Yamdoot. According to the Garuna Puran, the river does not boil with water but the boiling blood and pus flows, the pieces of meat and bone flow on the banks of the river, the creatures that look like crocodiles are present in it. Like a thunderbolt, beak vulture is feeding souls.

The sinners live in the river and suffer due to their sins. the roar of the four and the hawkers and the life of the creatures and the wrath of the Vatarnari river are heard.

The river is so horrible that only the soul of the sinner starts eating the flow of the river on the arrival of the Jivatma. The Yamdut leaves the life on the river bank and becomes interpolated, the journey from here becomes very tragic. 

From here on, the soul has to cross the river with the help of a boat whose driver is a ghost, on the basis of the virtues of living, the phantom driver sits on the boat.

The ghost asks the soul that what is such virtue that by which you can sit on the boat and cross the river? In this journey, the special significance of Gau Daan is explained, the person who has donated the cow of cattle in his life.

The ghosts allow the soul to sit in the boat and then crosses the river. There is also a special significance in the scriptural giving of a donation by a mortal person, even if death is approaching, it is also recognized that the person may ask or follow the person's request.
