Gautam Adani topped the 2022 Forbes list of India's 100 Richest with a net worth of USD 150 billion after seeing a stunning increase in fortune brought on by a record surge in the stock prices of the listed companies in his debt-fueled enterprise. The long-time top of the rich list,., came after him.

According to a Forbes Asia report, the combined fortune of the 100 richest businessmen in India as of 2022 increased by USD 25 billion to USD 800 billion. A weakening rupee hurt most of the wealthy, according to a Forbes statement published last week, but Gautam Adani's record gain propelled him to the top of the list.

The ranking is also included in the November issues of Forbes India and Forbes Asia, respectively. India's economy surpassed the United Kingdom to become the fifth-largest in the world thanks to the post-pandemic demand recovery. "The emergence of infrastructure mogul Gautam Adani, who altered the hierarchy at the top for the first time since 2008, was largely responsible for the increase in the 100 richest people's aggregate net worth.

Adani nearly tripled his wealth in 2021, and this year he nearly doubled it to USD150 billion, making him the richest man on the planet and briefly the second-richest "Asia Forbes said. Adani, who led this year's gains in both percentage and monetary terms, declared that he would invest USD100 billion over the following ten years, 70% of which would go toward green energy, according to the press release.

The energy and telecom juggernaut Reliance Industries, controlled by Mukesh Ambani, is ranked second with USD 88 billion, down 5% from the previous year. Adani and Ambani now jointly control 30% of the wealth of India's 100 richest people. Radhakishan Damani, the DMart grocery chain's owner and the nation's retailing king, entered the top three for the first time despite a 6% fall in net worth to USD27.6 billion.
