New Delhi: Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has expressed happiness over former wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni being appointed as the mentor of Team India for this year's ICC T20 World Cup. He has said that he is hopeful that Dhoni's strategy will not clash with the team's head coach Ravi Shastri over team selection.

Let us tell you that India has announced its team for the T20 World Cup. During this, he also announced to make Dhoni a mentor for this tournament. Speaking to the media, Gavaskar said that under Dhoni, India won the 2011 World Cup, and four years before that they won the T20 World Cup in 2007. His appointment will be beneficial for India. He said that there was a time when then-coach John Wright was a bit nervous. They thought I would take their place. But Shastri knows that Dhoni is less interested in coaching. If the partnership goes well, India will get huge benefits from it.

Gavaskar further said that, if there is some variation in the strategy team selection, then it can affect the team. But the appointment of Dhoni is a big boost for Team India. He has a lot of experience, he knows everything. When Dhoni was active in international cricket, there was no player bigger than him.
