Lucknow: There will be no exaggeration to say that the land of Sonbhadra is spewing gold. Actually, the Geological survey of India (GSI) has found huge gold reserves in the Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. It is estimated that GSI has found 2943.26 tonnes of gold ore in Son hill under Panari Gram Panchayat of Chopan block of Sonebhadra and about 646 kg of gold in Hardi of Pardhar gram panchayat.

That is, Nearly 3 and a half thousand tons of gold ore has been received by GSI. With this, about 1500 tonnes of gold can be made. It is being told that iron, potash, sillimanite and andalusite components have also been found at other places in the district. In this way, GSI has discovered reserves of about 90 tonnes of andalusite, 9 tonnes of potash, 15 tonnes of iron ore and 10 million tonnes of sillaminite along with gold ore. Directorate of Geology and Mining has also given orders for auctioning of minerals.

Giving information, Mining Officer KK Rai has said that a team of 7 members has been formed for geo-tagging these mineral sites, which will submit its report to the mining director by 22 February. After this, instructions can be issued to issue e-tender by handing over responsibility to the state. The mining will be allowed only after the e-tender is approved.
